In addition to my career as a
professional artist, I run a small number of workshops in life
drawing and painting during the year. Participants have
travelled from Buckinghamshire, Sevenoaks, Maidstone and
Tonbridge to participate. I have received enquiries from the USA for future
ones.
The
workshops will be very intensive, but a lot of fun. While I will
sometimes talk and demonstrate to the class as a whole, every
artist has their own personality with their own interests, ideas
and direction. I seek to find that individual direction
and to develop it. You will be encouraged to work at your
own level and to aim beyond that.
Demonstrations will include drawing (where
to start from, and how to continue), painting (use of colour,
brushes, and preparing supports), anatomy (understanding the
structure of the human form), and materials and media (charcoal,
pencils, pastels, paints, brushes etc). We will look at and discuss
examples of life drawing and painting from artists across the
centuries. I will also cover any topics requested by the students,
either individually, or to the group as appropriate.
Participants are free to use any media (oils, acrylics, watercolour, pastels etc.) and will be encouraged to experiment
with others as appropriate.
"I really enjoyed the three day
course and felt it gave me a much needed incentive to re-engage in
my art work. I felt as though I learnt more in those three days than
in the three years I spent doing a Dip AD in Fine Art back in the
early seventies."
Peter P. -
Hastings, East Sussex
"A very valuable 3 days. I enjoyed
the balance of tuition, demonstration, individual tuition and
individual exploration of ideas"
Dick H.
- Flackwell Heath, Bucks
"Apart from
having an absolute whale of a time, I feel I've once again learned
an incredible amount in a very short time"... "Demonstrations -
totally invaluable & impressively instructional."..."Poses - each
pose was inspiring & had a number of interesting angles."..."Loved
the relaxed informal atmosphere"
Jenny B. - Maidstone, Kent
"I was grateful,
Crawfurd, for your guidance and help to relocate the artist within
me - she certainly goes "missing" from time to time."
Anne W. - Tonbridge, Kent
